It’s You Against You…
It is human nature to give excuses for our failure. Blaming everyone else but ourselves. We all do it, so just admit it 😁.
It may sound strange quoting Rocky Balboa, who is not even a real person, but he’s an amazing example of giving no excuses and just getting on with it. If you look beyond the movie and how the underdog always manages to win against all odds, there is a lot to be learned.
In whatever situation you find yourself in, it is always you against you. You are your own worst enemy and you are the only one who can stop yourself from achieving your full potential. Now this is not about the touchy feely bullshit we see from wannabe life coaches (who probably don’t know jack about life!) but this is really about looking into your own soul and dragging out the part of you that will never give up.
I cannot recall the number of times I felt like running on empty. When everything seemed to be crumbling down. When nothing was going right, and the world was against me because I was doing everything wrong. But always managed to dig deep and find that motivation, that voice that roared “stand up and fight” … and do the right the thing. For me, my motivation came from my kids; what I want for them, and what I want them to learn.
What is your motivation? What does the fighter inside you always say? Listen to it and remember, it is always, you against you!
To quote the lyrics of Survivor from Rocky IV — such a great rock ballad:
“In the warrior’s code, There’s no surrender, Though his body says stop, His spirit cries, never. Deep in our soul, A quiet ember, Knows it’s you against you, It’s the paradox, That drives us on, It’s a battle of wills, In the heat of attack, It’s the passion that kills, The victory is yours alone….”

Well folks, this was my Verbal Breakdown for this week. Have a great week and see you in the next one.
Till then, keep it safe, keep it real, and keep it simple.
