My Little Black Book!
Nope, it is not what you think! Not that kinda black book I’m afraid. 😂😂😂
I have a little notebook (happens to be black) that I write 3 things in on daily basis:
(1) Something I am thankful for that day,
(2) something I achieved (or accomplished or learned) that day, and
(3) a goal for tomorrow.
I started doing this on the 1st of October 2019; at that time, I was at the lowest point in my life (which is a story for another day). But ever since I started writing these things down, life started to make more sense to me. It is always very interesting to me when I look back and see how my daily goals evolved after I made it a point to notice them… and made sure I completed them.
This is something I recommend to everyone, and if you like to do this, just start simple.
Here is what to do to get started.
First off… something you are grateful for. It does not have to be something big; it could be as small as getting your new little puppy to stop peeing on your favorite rug; or, in my case, the lightening this morning only fried the mini-UPS attached to the internet router… $17 and problem solved. Gratefulness, my friends, it is like confetti for your soul.
Second, celebrate your daily victories, an achievement; such as narrowly dodging that giant pothole (in Arabic: joura) on the way back from school and saving your tire (and pocket) from blowing up for the second time this month; or successfully navigating the treacherous territory of assembling IKEA furniture; or even learning a new song! Own those victories, my friends, you are superheroes in pajamas. 👏👏👏
Third, set a goal for tomorrow. It doesn’t have to be Nobel Prize-worthy. It could be as simple as mastering the new coffee machine at work, or (again in my case) not burning the sandwiches in the morning because I forgot they were even in the toaster to start with — a real culinary triumph; or perfecting the sales pitch that’s going to win you that all-important deal. 🙌 Goals, my friends, they are like GPS for your dreams — helps you navigate the chaos.
You can get a small book to write them in… it could even be black (or any color you like).
Well folks, this was another Verbal Breakdown, till the next one, keep it safe, keep it real, and keep it simple.
